Although closely linked to STEM subjects, making can enhance all areas of the curriculum and provides an interdisciplinary practice at the crossroads of every subject. Many schools are now keen to develop their own makerspace or maker education provision. As part of the Maker{School} programme, we offer a range of training and guidance to help UK schools to provide maker centred learning.

Developed with teachers for teachers

Arbourthorne Community Primary School is our lead partner school and we work closely with the teaching staff, senior leaders and children to co-develop the Maker{School} programme.

Arbourthorne have put making at the heart of their curriculum by working with children to develop makerspaces in every classroom. Children are building skills in materials and tools, electronics, coding and digital literacies.

Resources

These resources have been developed by the Maker{Futures} programme and our previous project on making in the Early Years - MakEY.

Children's University

Maker{Futures} is a Children’s University Learning Destination where children and young people can collect learning credits that count towards their CU awards.

If your school is part of CU, our sessions can be included in the learning hours recorded.
